Why a French mobile IP changes everything on a French platform

A proxy is not just "another address". It is a story you tell the platform, and that story is either coherent or it is not.

What the site sees before your first action

From the very first request, before you have clicked anything:

What it reads What it infers

A French seller selling in France from an Orange mobile IP ticks every box effortlessly. That is what a real seller does, because it is what they are.

The three families of address, and what they are worth

Data centre

Hosting providers' addresses — OVH, Hetzner, AWS. They are publicly identifiable: each provider's address ranges are documented and freely consultable.

No interpretation is needed. The platform knows that behind this address there is no living room, there is a rack. On demanding platforms, that rules you out immediately.

Residential

Individuals' addresses, most often obtained by reselling the bandwidth of people who installed a free app. It is plausible — it really is a home connection.

Two reservations, one practical and one not:

  • The same device is shared among several of the proxy provider's customers. You do not know who used that address before you, or what for.
  • Where those addresses come from raises genuine questions of consent.

Mobile 4G/5G

This is the address of a SIM card on a carrier's network. Its particularity changes everything: thanks to CGNAT, hundreds of real subscribers share the same public address at the same time.

Direct consequence: a platform cannot ban a mobile IP without banning legitimate customers along with you. It knows this, and is therefore structurally more lenient on this type of address. That is the technical reason behind the high "trust score" of mobile proxies — it is not a marketing claim, it is a constraint the platform is under.

French, and not merely mobile

A German mobile IP on a platform where you sell in France is mobile, but it is not coherent. You are announcing delivery from Lyon while connecting from Berlin, every day, for six months.

It is not forbidden, and on its own it triggers nothing. But it is one more anomaly in a system that adds them up — and the day a report comes in, it is those accumulated anomalies that tip the decision.

If you sell in France, connect from France. It is the cheapest point to respect and the hardest to make up for afterwards.

What a French IP does not do

Let us be clear, because the market promises a great deal:

  • It puts no one above a service's rules. What is forbidden stays forbidden, and a sanction aimed at your account has nothing to do with your address.
  • It does not repair an inconsistent configuration. American time zone, English language, WebRTC handing out your real address: see the leaks.

What it does, it does well: it gets you out of shared addresses, where you are judged on strangers' history. That is a lot, and it is only that.

And the network fingerprint underneath?

There is a layer almost nobody addresses: your machine's TCP/IP signature. The TTL, the window size, the ordering of TCP options — these details reveal the real operating system, regardless of what the browser announces.

A passive analysis of those fields tells a real phone from a Linux server pretending to be one, without ever asking you a question. That is the level at which providers actually differ, and it has a dedicated page on this site: TCP/OS spoofing.
